ORIGIN STORY
Ian Mills Miller is an award-winning director whose work blends cinematic storytelling, surreal visual language, and deeply human emotion. His career began at the renowned production and animation company Partizan New York, where he apprenticed under visionary director Michel Gondry. Early in his career, he got his shot serving as a cinematographer on Björk's iconic music video Declare Independence, directed by Gondry, an experience that helped shape his distinctive visual approach.
Since then, Ian has directed and contributed to cinematic campaigns, branded films, and immersive visual experiences for global clients including Sony, Universal, Roc Nation, and Warner Bros.
As a creative director and lead 3D artist, Ian has led projects for Saatchi & Saatchi, Stryker ProStep, and Lush Decor, where he combined live-action filmmaking with real-time visual effects using Unreal Engine, creating richly cinematic worlds that seamlessly blend physical and digital environments.
His visual effects and motion design work has also contributed to major studio campaigns for films including Avatar: The Way of Water, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Creed III.
Ian's narrative filmmaking is driven by a passion for bold visual storytelling. His original short film, Souls of Men, earned Best Director at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival in 2022, reflecting his commitment to emotionally resonant stories with a distinctive cinematic style. Most recently, his visual effects work on Aurora will be featured in the Official Selection at HollyShorts Film Festival, an Academy Award®-qualifying festival in Los Angeles, further showcasing his ability to blend compelling storytelling with high-end visual craftsmanship.
Throughout his career, Ian has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Bon Jovi, Marc Anthony, and Lil Wayne, crafting cinematic experiences that transform music into emotionally resonant visual storytelling.
Drawing from a multidisciplinary background in directing, cinematography, 3D animation, visual effects, and creative leadership, Ian approaches every project with equal parts imagination and technical precision. Whether crafting a film, commercial campaign, or immersive visual experience, he is driven by one belief: that powerful stories, executed with bold artistry and innovative technology, have the ability to leave a lasting impact.
